The Wonder Tonic

Chances are if you eat leafy greens such as spinach or kale, then your body is already familiar with the plant extract, chlorophyll, naturally.

We all know that green stuff is good for us and are a must for maintaining a healthy mind and body. Chlorophyll on the other hand (otherwise known as the King of greens) is basically a do-it-all wonder.  Liquid chlorophyll is a concentrated form that can be easily added to everything from water, juice, tea or even a smoothie and is a seriously good way of ramping up the goodness in your daily dose of greens.

To give a short biology run for you, Chlorophyll is the green pigment in plants that give them the ability to absorb and trap the energy from the sun and produce their food (otherwise known as photosynthesis.)

Chlorophyll’s molecular structure is in fact very similar to the molecular structure of the human red blood cell hemoglobin (the molecule in blood responsible for transporting oxygen). Chlorophyll is often tipped as a natural blood builder, helping to increase the number and quality of your red blood cells that results in better oxygen transportation and a more energized body.

This little wonder tonic is great for alkalizing the body and soothing digestion as an internal daily cleanser that works to remove built up internal toxins (the nasty kind that often manifest as skin problems!). We’ve discovered that daily ingestion results in brighter eyes, clearer skin and more energy. Who’s to argue with that? The powerful list doesn’t stop there. Chlorophyll helps to fight free radicals, prevent infection, reduce inflammation and improve oxygen supply and also is a natural way to help alleviate bad breath.

Health expert James Duigan, (who counts Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Elle Macpherson among his clients), swears by it as a way to keep the body alkaline.

“Diets high in unhealthy food change the body’s pH balance, making it more acidic, which can lead to insomnia and weight gain. Alkaline substances are essential to re-balance.” says James.

A lot of processed food that we eat on a day to day basis is very acidic and as such, the alkaline properties of the chlorophyll neutralises it and helps to purify the liver and eliminate drug deposits, old toxic material, chemical spray on food, artificial flavoring, colors and other products that may become stored in it.

Not only does it boast a multitude of health benefits, but incorporating the liquid green goodness into your daily diets will also remind you to drink a little more water (we’ll be honest, it’s really only palatable when mixed with water.) One teaspoon in a glass of water is all you need each day – think of it as your essential body detergent!
